Mt Tarawera

Screenshot 2014-03-05 at 8.12.27 PM.png 10 June, 1886 a tragedy occurred in the North Island of Aotearoa (New Zealand). Mt. Tarawera has erupted all three of its peaks which had sent clouds of ash and smoke, meters into the sky. People have said the explosion was heard as far as Blenheim and the effect of the ash had blown all the way south towards Christchurch. It has been reported that the smoke and ash have destroyed many villages including covering Te Wairoa in ash and mud. The famous pink and white traces were lost during the event. An estimated 120 people died during this natural disaster.
